I am confident that the steps taken today will lay a strong foundation for elevating our bilateral relations to an even more strategic level in the future - Emomali Rahmon

I am confident that the steps taken today will lay a strong foundation for elevating our bilateral relations to an even more strategic level in the future. Such a statement the President of Tajikistan made at the joint briefing with the Prime Minister of Georgia.

"Today, we held detailed discussions on the current state and future prospects of our bilateral relations, while also exchanging views on topical issues and international cooperation. During the official visit, several agreements were signed that will further strengthen cooperation between our two countries. These documents cover civil aviation, agricultural tourism, science, education, culture, sports, climate change and other areas of mutual interest. During our talks, we emphasized the importance of intensifying political dialogue. We also discussed parliamentary cooperation and the enhanced role of parliamentary diplomacy in further developing relations between our two countries.

Trade and economic cooperation were at the core of our discussions. We are committed to further expanding our economic partnership through concrete bilateral initiatives. Special attention was devoted to trade and economic cooperation, which formed the central pillar of our negotiations. Both countries possess significant untapped potential in this regard.

Tajikistan is also interested in expanding cooperation across various sectors of the green economy, industry, technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence.

In this context, we expressed our readiness to launch cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including light industry, food production, mining, pharmaceuticals and agriculture. We intend to take practical steps to advance collaboration in these fields. We also support the further development of cooperation in transport and transit, as well as in agriculture, tourism and healthcare.

Today, we agreed to establish a Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the relevant agreement was signed. We are confident that the Commission will provide a comprehensive framework for implementing practical measures across various areas of bilateral cooperation.

Particular attention was also devoted to strengthening ties in culture and humanitarian affairs, which are an important pillar of our friendship and contribute to greater mutual understanding between our peoples.

We welcome the expansion of cooperation in education, science, culture, youth affairs and sports.

It is worth noting that during the visit the Prime Minister of Georgia took part in the unveiling ceremony of the bust of the renowned Georgian poet and writer, the classical literary figure Shota Rustaveli.

A new street in Dushanbe will also bear the name of Rustaveli. This is an important step toward strengthening the friendship between our two countries.

During our discussions, we emphasized the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue between our countries and further enhancing cooperation between our institutions. In this regard, both sides share an interest in continuing their successful cooperation within international forums, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies. Tajikistan expressed its satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation with Georgia on international affairs, particularly those related to advancing the global agenda on water resources and climate change. We emphasized the importance of joining our efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change on the environment.

In the area of security, we discussed issues related to addressing existing threats. In conclusion, I would like to stress that the agreements reached during today's meetings provide a solid foundation and promising prospects for the further development of relations between our two countries.

Tajikistan highly values the outcomes of these negotiations, which were conducted in a constructive atmosphere of mutual understanding. The strengthening of relations between our two countries across all areas is truly welcome. I am confident that the steps taken today will lay a strong foundation for elevating our bilateral relations to an even more strategic level in the future", - said Emomali Rahmon.
